Wicker wreath

In these three words, the Wichernkranz made of 3.5 mm thick steel is described succinctly but accurately. Its minimalist design makes it a striking eye-catcher in any room or environment. Its multifunctionality even results on three levels: You can use it outdoors as well as indoors, hang it from the strong sisal cord or even stand it up, decorate it exclusively with tea lights and candles or with other ornaments such as twigs and flowers.
The candle joint accommodates tea lights of usual commercial size as well as candles up to a diameter of 4.5 cm. If you hang the Wicker Wreath, other decorative elements, for example Christmas stockings, can be attached to the four hooks of the "feet". Outdoors, the oiled steel will form a natural patina over time, which further enhances its striking appearance.

The Advent calendar in its original form - this is the Wichernkranz. We owe its invention to the Hamburg theologian and social pedagogue Johann Hinrich Wichern (1808 -1881). Together with Hamburg citizens, he founded the Rough House, a kind of children's rescue village, where he took care of poor children with behavioral problems.
Of course, during Advent, Wichern was also constantly confronted with the question of his protégés: How long until Christmas? To give the children an easy overview, in 1839 he converted an old wagon wheel into a wooden wreath with 20 small and four large candles. From this, the children could easily count for themselves how many days were left before the presents were given. Over time, the Wichernkranz developed into the Advent wreath as we know it today: with four candles for the Sundays of Advent.
