Waspy wasps live trap

Wasps can be real pests, especially in summer when we sit outside with coffee and cake or barbecue. A simple and highly effective solution to keep the intrusive hunters away from fruit cakes and barbecues is this live trap for wasps. All you have to do is place a piece or two of fruit or meat in the glass container and unscrew the trap funnel. The insects, attracted by the scent of the food, can get in but not out. The hymenoptera remain alive in the container and can sometimes serve as a visual object for curious children's eyes until you release the wasps back into the wild. They deserve this freedom, not only because they are protected anyway, but also because they do a good job in agriculture and gardens. For their brood, they feed protein-rich food in the form of other insects such as aphids, mosquitoes and flies, as well as caterpillars, and are therefore natural enemies of some pest insects.

Notabene: Basically, only the common wasp and the German wasp bring their whole family into disrepute. Because only these two species love desserts and juices, meat and sausage. Unlike the other species, they nest in dark burrows. So when they see free-hanging wasp nests, you can stay relaxed, because the wasps living in them are not interested in sweet and protein-rich food.

Our wasp live trap is not only considerate of the black and yellow striped insects, but it is also made in a resource-friendly way. The catch container is made of recycled waste glass, so it can be used permanently. For the funnel, a bio-material is used that consists of 92% lignin, a component in plants that is responsible for lignification and thus provides stability. Lignin is produced in large quantities during paper production, but cannot be used further for this purpose. By adding starch, cellulose, organic additives, minerals and natural waxes and fibers, the organic material becomes even more stable and can even be put in the dishwasher. The packaging is made of grass cardboard, a mixture of grasses and paper. The wasp trap is produced entirely in Germany from domestic raw materials, which ensures short production and transport routes.
