Thermal protection curtain wool frieze

This extraordinary curtain is made of heavy, dense and at the same time very voluminous loden. Hung in the entrance area in front of the door or window, it is a real protective shield against the cold and draughts. The curtain owes its ability to insulate heat exceptionally well to several factors. Loden is woven from so-called carded yarn, which is voluminous and slightly curly due to the special spinning technique. For our loden, the yarn is spun from pure new wool, which itself already has good heat-insulating properties, with a generous amount of material and woven very densely: this also results in the high basis weight of 1,000 g/ running meter. In addition, the normally smooth loden is heavily roughened so that the volume is significantly increased and even more heat-insulating air can be trapped. Traditionally, such a thick, fluffy fabric is called a frieze.

Our wool frieze is woven in the Gebrüder Mehler cloth factory in Tirschenreuth. Founded in 1644, the textile factory still carries out all stages of processing under one roof, from spinning and weaving to dyeing, finishing and making up. The heat protection curtain is ready-made and fitted with ten large, sturdy eyelets (39.5 mm Ø inside) made of stainless steel (as are otherwise used for truck tarpaulins) so that it can be easily pulled over a pole. With a width of 150 cm, it is ideal for standard doors (H 200 × W 100 cm), for which we recommend a rod length of 120 cm. For wider doors or double doors, you can simply hang two curtains next to each other.
