In contrast to similarly structured games such as Go or Four Wins, the game board here rests on a ledge and thus forms an inclined plane. After each move, the board is rotated on the bar before the tactical result can be examined. With the rotation, the direction of inclination of the board changes at the same time, so that the balls in the elongated milled hollows change their position, so can roll one position further.

Your spatial imagination is required here: Have you used the right strategy, so will your balls after the rotation really form the planned chain of four? The red balls come into play as a complicating factor: their starting position is fixed, in the current game they act as a kind of placeholder and can be moved tactically (more or less cleverly) by both players. The white player can thus put many a stone in the (rolling) path of the black player. And vice versa, of course. What looks at first like a clear victory, gets all of a sudden on the slippery slope ...
