Swedish Christmas tree stand cast iron green

If you think "typically Swedish" when you see this Christmas tree stand, you are absolutely right. The Swedish manufacturer found the model for the tree stand, which has a classic design and functionality, in the artist's house that had a decisive influence on the architecture and interior design of his country: in Lilla Hyttnäs, the "little hut" of Carl and Karin Larsson in Sundborn, near Falun. Stylistically oriented primarily towards the Arts and Crafts Movement, the Swedish artist couple influenced our image of the Swedish home, its furnishings and its turbulent and loving family life like few others since the end of the 19th century - with the possible exception of Astrid Lindgren.

The estate is open to the public as Carl Larsson Gården Sundborn and is managed by the Carl and Karin Larsson Family Association, as is the house with its original furnishings. In cooperation with the family association, the manufacturer is recreating the Christmas tree stand according to all the rules of traditional craftsmanship. The material of choice is cast iron, which is predestined for a tree stand primarily due to its heaviness. In addition, only 15 to 20 percent of this cast iron is made from pig iron, but 80 percent is obtained from industrial scrap from Germany and other European countries. Naturally, recycling industrial scrap reduces the consumption of new resources, and the cast iron itself can also be recycled, making it a recyclable material.

In order to lend the sturdy, weighty appliance an air of visual lightness, the base is open-worked in the geometric Art Deco style and some details of the pattern relief are highlighted in gold by hand or brush. In addition to the cast iron weight of the stand, three long screws ensure that your Christmas tree stands securely, which you can use to fix the trunk in place. The trunk can be up to seven centimetres in diameter - this corresponds to a maximum tree height of 2.50 meters.
