    General Information

Gentle roughening. For nubuck, suede and suede leather

Ideal for fine suede and suede leather - this suede brush is even gentler than brass brushes, which are also used for roughening. The oiled beech wood body is fitted with natural rubber slats that can be used to gently work the leather on shoes, bags and furniture. Gently rub the leather surface in both directions to polish the fibers. Depending on how dirty the leather is, the natural rubber will darken over time. To clean it, simply wipe the slats with your fingers.

    Rough or suede?

So-called rough or suede leather is sanded on the grain or flesh side, giving the surface a fibrous structure. However, you have to be careful with the designation, because not every suede leather is also a suede leather. Strictly speaking, suede can only be called suede if it comes from animals that have lived in the wild, such as elk or deer. Nubuck is also suede, but it is made from smooth grain split leather, which is slightly sanded and therefore rough. Suede, on the other hand, is the heavily sanded suede of the flesh split, which is why it is also called split suede. The fibers are usually longer due to the stronger sanding and the surface is not as fine as with nubuck. This is often of a higher quality simply because the upper split (i.e. the grain split) is usually somewhat stronger and therefore more stable. Very high-quality suede is obtained by using the whole hide and sanding the reverse side heavily. What all suede leathers have in common, however, is the velvety, soft surface which, like other leathers, takes on a patina over time and can also become smooth. To stop this process, it should be roughened regularly with a suede brush.

Andrée Jardin. Brushes and brooms from France

The French family business Andrée Jardin has been manufacturing brushes and brooms since 1947. The fact that here not only the company and the craft knowledge have been passed down for three generations, but especially the passion for brush making, can be seen in every single product. In traditional production - many steps, such as drawing in the trim fibers, are still carried out by hand - durable brushes and brooms that sweep well over the long term are created from sustainable raw materials. For example, beech and ash wood from sustainably managed forests in the region is used for the brush bodies. The respective trimmings also consist of natural materials such as plant fibers, pig bristles or horse hair.
In 2012, the grandsons of founder Georges-René Julio took over the family business and renamed it in honor of their grandmother Andrée Jardin. The range was also expanded in the process and they manufacture more utensils for household needs.
