Almost every region in France knows its own knife culture. For example, the Auvergne town of Thiers has been famous for its cutlery for more than 700 years. Among the selected models that meet all the requirements of the local guild council for craftsmanship, which is still active today, are the knives from the Goyon-Chazeau knife forge. Look at the elegant shape of these knives - hilt and blade unite in the sweep of a double wave - as well as the small T-shaped seal that is specially engraved on the solid blade hand-forged from stainless steel blanks. As per the regulations, the blade also features the forge's signature.
Exclusively, our steak knives with cattle horn handle carry another decorative element, because on the spring is clearly visible the complete image of a historic building. Château du Pirou, built in 1410 as the residence of Louis II. Duke of Bourbon and Count of Forez, is today the oldest house in the medieval town center of Thiers. Of course, the knife artists at Goyon-Chazeau perform the ornamental guillochage on the back of the knife with the same special care with which they perform the engravings. Lastly, the hilt scales are inserted for a precise fit.
