Squirrel lime wood hand-carved

Have you ever heard of the "forgetful gardener"? If you occasionally find nuts, chestnuts, acorns, cones, etc. in the most unlikely places in your garden, it's a safe bet that one has been at work. It will have been our native squirrel, which has a habit of creating food depots in many places in its territory. Not all of these deposits are found again over time, and so it can happen that at the end of winter new plants grow from the collected fruits of nature. We humans call this natural regeneration and see it as an important task for our ecosystems - the forgetful gardeners play a central role in this.

Our hand-carved squirrel made of lime wood, on the other hand, has an entirely decorative role to play with its decidedly natural design. The wooden animal has come a long way, originating from villages in Manchuria, where woodcarving has a long tradition. Farmers in the region use these and other carvings to fill the long winter months and earn an additional income. The water-based paints used to paint the wood are also applied by hand.
