SIEGOL® Palm Wax Shoe Cream
General Information
First-Class Hard wax Cream from Switzerland.
The palm wax shoe polish by Siegol® contains natural, resin-free balsamic turpentine oil as a solvent – instead of the simple white spirit widely used today. The solvent provides an additional cleaning effect and contributes to the optimal consistency of the shoe polish. The various natural waxes combined in the polish result in protective and waterproofing effects and long-lasting shine. Particularly important for the latter effect is the hard wax of the carnauba palm. Natural colour pigments provide an incomparable depth of colour, especially in Siegol®’s black cream. You can increase the rich high gloss to an authentic mirror finish using the old Butler trick of “spit and polish”. Besides, this shoe polish is exceptionally economical: The contents of one tin is sufficient for polishing more than 200 pairs of medium-sized shoes.
Leather Care.
Treating leather with nourishing care products makes it more beautiful and revives the inner fluidity that reduces friction and delays wear in the leather’s fibre structure. In short: the leather becomes softer, more elastic and more supple.
Shoe Polish. In a Can or Tube?
There are two basic types of shoe polish: hard wax paste (usually comes in a can) and emulsion cream (usually comes in a tube). The latter contains more water as a solvent and a smaller proportion of wax. The cream has a more fluid consistency; therefore, you find it easy and quick to apply. Besides, you needn't polish the cream as vigorously as a hard wax paste. If you use the paste, you should apply it sparingly and polish it intensively afterwards. The hard-wax-paste-treated leather remains soft and breathable in return. Additionally, the shiny wax film is more resistant than that of an emulsion cream.
Siegol®. Swiss Shoe Care.
The well-known Burgol shoe cream – a polish made of hard wax – has been produced following an unchanged recipe since 1921. However, in 2017 changed the trademark rights. The palm wax shoe polish is marketed under the name Siegol® now. Because no successor from the family could be found, Burgol was already sold to the H. Siegenthaler AG in 1983. Since then, the palm wax shoe polish and all other shoe care products have been manufactured at the company’s headquarters in the canton of Bern. Yet, trading the tried and tested shoe care product only recently restarted under the new brand name. Besides, the name derives from Siegenthaler and Oel.
