Side table oak wood

Scandinavian design is functional and of simple elegance, it is aesthetically pleasing and practical. Made from natural materials, usually in light colors, it fits into almost any style of living and contributes to a friendly atmosphere. No wonder we have a soft spot for furniture from Scandinavia. We were also impressed by this simple model from Danish manufacturer Form & Refine. The highlight here: The side table has two levels, the top of which has a recess so that you can place magazines, Magazine and books. A more than clever design, as it not only saves space, but also nerves, because the items can be pulled out individually without dragging others along (as often happens with stacks). The cleat construction ensures load-bearing capacity: Two "table tops" and two side panels made of glued oak slats are set into the four solid oak posts. The surfaces are veneered for evenness. There is no need to emphasize the fact that everything has been carefully crafted; the attention to detail is also evident in the side panels of the shelves, for example. They ensure harmonious proportions and, together with the side panels, form a frame that prevents the items placed on or off the shelves from falling overboard (at least it reduces the risk of falling).

Form & Refine is a Danish design label founded in 2018 by Helle Herman Mortensen, Jonas Herman Pedersen and Lasse Lund Lauridsen. It exemplarily follows the Scandinavian design tradition and continues it at the same time. A central point is the harmonious combination of aesthetics, function and material. The designs are clear and restrained, function leads to form and the pure materials, which are allowed to retain their original visual details and forms, are processed with perfect craftsmanship. This is always done in the countries of origin of the materials, which shortens transport distances and at the same time supports the local craft culture.
