Shoeshine Box with Footrest.
This manually produced shoebox made of 10 mm thick oak and 1.8 mm thick steel sheet is designed as an open rectangle with rounded off corners. The parts are sturdily screwed together. It has two compartments, which will store everything one might need to maintain shoes. The clever design has it that the handle in central position doubles as a footrest for comfortable shoe cleaning. The aperture where you put your hand through has a width of 11 cm. With this orderly shoe box, actually more a small piece of furniture, regular shoe care will become an established and welcome ritual. The shoebox is made in workshops for disabled persons in Bethel in North Rhine-Westphalia.
