Calendula shampoo
General Information
For damaged hair.
Shampoos from Camaldoli.
Based on a very mild detergent these shampoos developed by the Benedictine monks of the Holy Hermitage and Monastery of Camaldoli, situated in an ancient forest in the Tuscan Apennines, contain different natural ingredients depending on the hair type. The shampoo with marigold extract is intended especially for the damaged hair. However, both shampoos are exceptionally mild, finely fragranced and can be used very sparingly so that even if used daily one bottle will last six weeks. It cleanses the hair thoroughly, leaving the hair splendidly fit for styling afterwards.
Mountains, Fir Trees and Solitude.
Camaldoli is especially noteworthy among monastic settlements: An entire monastic culture started with the monastery’s foundation that is still alive today. At Camaldoli, the number 11 plays a paramount role: The 11th century and 1,111 m above sea level marked the givens in space and time for St. Romuald when he founded this semi-eremitic branch of the Benedictines northeast of Arezzo. Similar to the Carthusians, Camaldoli’s hermit monks inhabit each a small house in a separate garden. As a Benedictine heritage, the monastery also features community life so that a Camaldolese monk can choose which way of life he prefers. The production of cosmetic products is one of the monastery’s most important areas of work.
