Japanese saws (Nokogiri).
The importance attached to saws in Japanese craftsmanship can be seen in the number of different types, the highly differentiated cutting geometries and the careful design of the handles.
Japanese wood saws work by pulling and are easier to control and since the blade cuts by pulling it can be made thinner. Although they can’t be sharpened the replaceable carbon steel blades have razor sharp tips. The teeth are very slightly offset, for minimal material loss and smooth, tear-free surfaces in the cuts. Not just saws for connoisseurs, these are extremely useful tools which will quickly become indispensable.

Ultra-sharp. Japanese saws.
Japanese saws work on tension and are therefore easier to guide on the workpiece. Because the saw blade is also only stressed in tension, it can be worked out thinner. The carbon steel blades, which can be replaced but not resharpened, have hardened, razor-sharp ground tips and the teeth are slightly set, which makes for very smooth cutting surfaces. The handle material: Japanese wing nut.

A most commonly used and versatile saw. The blade has two sets of teeth: triangular for cutting with the grain on one side and a trapezoidal for cross cutting on the other side.
Carbon steel with hardened tips. Handle made of Japanese Caucasian wingnut wood. Blade length 24 cm, blade thickness 0.5 mm. Overall length 58 cm. Weight 200 g.
