A Hamburg Speciality: Kemm’s Brown Biscuits.

The Kemm family bakery has made these crisp, fresh-tasting biscuits in Hamburg since 1782 – the recipe has been handed down generation by generation – and they have slowly become the family ‘trademark’. Their slightly gingery, spicy taste is hard to describe – you have to try them! People eat them without or with butter, or as coffee-biscuits: a North German habit is to eat them for breakfast on top of buttered rolls! Another idea comes from a North German chef: use them in gravy to give it a special touch!

Wheat flour, syrup (invert sugar syrup, glucose syrup, sugar effusion syrup), sugar, vegetable fat (palm), raising agent (potassium carbonate, ammonium bicarbonate), spices (cinnamon, cloves), salt, natural lemon peel paste

Contains gluten. May contain traces of peanuts, nuts, egg, milk, sesame and soy.
