Today, since globes are practically only deep-drawn from plastic (which has made them cheaper and cheaper for decades, but also "accordingly"), there is hardly a glassworks left that is able to blow the large spheres of tempered glass. Our glass globes from Räth Globenverlag zu Leipzig represent the experience of generations; also because the art of making such things will soon be extinct, they are things that justify undisguised pride of ownership. A glass globe provides an incomparably plastic map image - and illuminated it is of its own, atmospheric effect.

Glass sphere diameter 30 cm. Gold varnished nickel-plated zinc die-cast meridian. Cherry-tree stained wooden base (diameter 18 cm). Total height 40.5 cm. Weight 2.9 kg. Plastic cable length 1.15 m.
This Räth globe is a dual cartograph globe: Not illuminated it shows the physical and illuminated it shows the political cartography. The printings were hand-cut into 12 segments and hand-laminated.
