Pumphead® stainless steel

The eye not only eats with you, it also drinks with you. And so, in parallel with the flourishing gin, vodka and rum culture, a special bottle aesthetic has developed. Almost like perfume bottles, the manufacturers spend a lot of time and effort on the glass containers and labels to signalize even before the first sip: A noble spirit lives inside (which is worth the money). In contrast to the perishable contents, the high-quality glass bottles are actually destined for a long life, but they usually end up in the waste glass. Unless they are repurposed as a flower vase in the university flat share. A second life as a pump dispenser, for example, has so far failed due to the lack of a suitable attachment. The bottles are as varied as their openings. What a shame, as this would also be a good alternative to plastic dispensers - thought a Swiss spirits manufacturer and found a solution.

The stainless steel pump attachment can be adapted to different bottle openings. Equipped as standard with a standard screw thread for bottles with screw caps, the Pumphead® attachment comes with a seal with flexible fins. This allows it to adapt to bottle openings that would otherwise accept corks or wooden closures and have different diameters. Now all you have to do is adapt the tube to the height of the bottle - ideally cut at an angle so that even the last droplet can be pumped up - and you can say goodbye to plastic soap and washing-up liquid dispensers (but not to the beautiful gin bottle). Both the seal and the hose can be replaced if necessary. The pump head is suitable for both liquid soap and soap powder that is mixed with water.

The Bern-based start-up began with the production of ginger and mate liqueur and a gin. And just as the company was gaining momentum, a virus slowed the world down and with it the marketing of its spirits. Founder David Brönnimann's bottles piled up (not only because he drank some of them himself, but also because he did) and ended up - actually too beautifully - in the waste glass. But how to reuse them? The idea was soon found: There would have to be a multi-compatible pump attachment that would fit different sized and very different openings so that the bottles could be used as dispensers for liquid soap, washing-up liquid or disinfectant. Well, the distiller from Bern had the time and the right contacts. Together with a company also based in Switzerland, he developed a pump attachment that a) fits on bottles with a thread, b) fits on bottles without a thread using a special seal, c) is durable as it is made of stainless steel, and d) also looks good.
