Pocket pencil brass

From Japan comes this formidable travel and pocket writing instrument. It belongs to that truly rare species of utilitarian object that begs the question of why we didn't think of it ourselves long ago, especially since it represents little more than a variation on the classic pencil extender. A variation, however, that we tip our hats to: A small sleeve of lacquered steel holds a short pencil that, when not in use, disappears into a brass case equipped with a clip and eraser that 1) extends the pencil, which is attached to the back, and turns it into a full-blown writing instrument, 2) keeps the pencil from breaking, and 3) keeps clothing from being stained with graphite.
To complement the pocket pencil, we offer a refill package with matching pencils. Short pencils or colored pencils, or those that have become shorter over time of use, can just as easily continue to be used with the case of the pocket pencil. If they do not find enough grip in the case, wrapping them with a little adhesive film works wonders.

When in use, the brass surface will develop – thanks to oxidation processes – a patina before long.
