General Information
A check bedding as you would imagine: The checks are not printed, but properly woven from yarn-dyed cotton. As a result, the colors retain their intensity much longer. The traditional weaving mill Vieböck manufactures this bed linen especially for Manufactum and equips them (not self-evident) with twisted buttons.
Cotton bed linen. Durable, checked weave and not printed
This bed linen in a checked pattern is made in the Mühlviertel. The traditional Vieböck weaving mill weaves red or blue-dyed and white cotton yarn in a plain weave. After weaving, the fabric is pre-washed with clear water and then calendered. The firm fabric is additionally compressed by a purely mechanical process in which the fabric is passed between rotating rollers, giving it its pleasant suppleness.
Woven goods from Upper Austria: known for centuries
The good reputation of the Mühlviertel weaving trade was already established around 1600 and in many communities, half of the inhabitants earned their income from weaving or related occupations. The raw material used by the weavers was flax, which was widely cultivated in the Mühlviertel at the time. At the time, weaving products were one of Upper Austria's most important exports. Since around 1700, strict quality and control regulations have ensured compliance with high quality standards. Standards that the traditional Vieböck weaving mill still works to today.
The yarn count
We specify the yarn count in Nm (metric number), whereby the higher the number, the finer the yarn. A yarn count of Nm 100 means that 100 meters of yarn weigh 1 gram. An additional number is added if the yarn is twisted from several single yarns, for example Nm 100/3 for a twisted yarn made from three single yarns.
