    General Information

Fine Cambric. Feels Cool to the Touch.

The Schlitzer Leinen Industrie Driessen processes an extremely fine linen cambric for this bedding. The best European long fibre flax is spun into a fine thread and woven in a plain weave: from a yarn count of Nm 26 in the warp and Nm 33 in the weft accrues a dense weave, a fabric that it is very smooth with a soft feeling. The bedding made from this finely woven fabric is particularly lightweight and feels pleasant on the skin. Linen cambric is the perfect fabric for a summer bedding: linen absorbs moisture quickly and just as quickly releases it to the surrounding air, giving the textile a cooling effect. Besides, linen is hard-wearing, stain-resistant and durable.
The pillow cases made of this fine linen cambric get no other finish. Except, before the fitting, there is a special pre-wash, which softens the linen and gives it a lively, voluminous surface. When you spin-dry the cases only briefly after washing and hang them to dry, they will regain their smooth surface when you iron them.

    Excursus: dryer or line

Generally, linen bedding may be spun after washing and put in the dryer, but it can then shrink even more, especially it is more difficult to smooth and also does not get back the perfect smooth surface afterwards. But for those who like it more casual, it is the right thing to do. So if you want to put the laundry in the dryer, it has proven useful to put three to five tennis balls in the drum with it. This makes the bed linen softer and smoother - but it won't be as smooth as before, not even by ironing or mangling.
More gentle (and also energy-saving) is drying on the clothesline. Spin the covers after washing only briefly on, if you iron the best still slightly damp laundry after drying, it gets back the smooth surface.

    Best Pedigree. European Linen.

Next to the Oberlausitz and Flanders one of the traditional textile regions of Europe is Hesse. For hundreds of years, the farmers in Hesse have cultivated, processed and spun the flax. Initially, the linen yarn was woven home-based on hand looms then more and more weaving mills took over. Only a few such mills have survived to the present day; one of them is Schlitzer Leinen-Industrie Driessen in Schlitz a small town in eastern Hesse. In addition to the weaving of linen Leinen-Industrie Driessen are also specialised in the production of fine half-linen and cotton fabric.
