Picking apron cotton

When harvesting from the ladder, you are well equipped with this picking apron: It is worked as a spacious bag and is worn directly on the body. This means you always have both hands free when picking fruit - or one hand to harvest and one to hold on to. You also don't have to shimmy, standing on the ladder, for a picking container that usually always hangs too far away, because you wear it directly on your body. If you release the two snap hooks, the bag opens downwards and can be easily emptied. Sensitive harvested produce - including apples that are to be stored for the winter - is handled very gently in this way. The principle comes from viticulture, where picking baskets with bottoms made of cloths that can be unbuttoned are used during the grape harvest - the crop does not have to be touched again when it is transferred to larger containers. In any case, less restrained treatment endures the material from which the apron is made: a cotton canvas fabric.
