If you own records and listen to them regularly, your heart will probably skip a beat and go into a joyful extrasystole. Because this record stand closes a gap that until now has mostly had to be filled by improvised constructions. It looks almost like a lounge chair for records, but is a veritable storage container and (presentation) frame in one. The compact and filigree frame holds around 25 to 30 records, which - just like in a record store - are displayed with the cover facing forwards. This means that the record stand always shows what is currently spinning on the platter. This is not only of interest to the listeners or guests who want to know more about the hosts' choice of music. It also does justice to the special editions with art prints, which are thus discreetly staged without being damaged themselves (at the same time, the whole thing could easily pass as a sculptural co-production). The collection in the record stand can serve as a reference folder or playlist for the evening or the week, or as a chronicle of what you have already listened to. For those with a large record collection, it can be used as a kind of hand organizer; for others, it may fit the collection itself.

This record stand is made with the same care that record collectors take with their good pieces. The two frames and the base are made from natural oak wood. It is neither oiled nor waxed so that the record sleeves can safely come into contact with the wood. The strip that serves as a support surface and also connects the two leaves is also flattened to a width of two centimetres at the top. A nice detail: the individual parts of the frames are mitred and joined together by visibly glued solid wood springs, which creates a nice material contrast: longitudinal wood meets end wood. The record stand is delivered to your home in three parts, so you will have to do a little work yourself before you entrust it with your choice of records, but you can then be all the more certain that the delicate frame will hold the weight of the vinyl securely.

The record stand is manufactured in a wood workshop in Lüneburg, which primarily uses local woods. The oak wood used here is sanded velvety smooth, but otherwise remains untreated and will develop an individual patina over time. However, you can also treat the wooden surface with a wood care product to protect it against discoloration and dirt.

Until a functional solution has been developed, one must "sometimes take wrong paths. Trial and error, reconsideration and further improvements are just as much a part of this process as the lively exchange with a wide variety of people. An open ear for their respective needs is indispensable to produce a product that is functional and yet not too complex. Close cooperation with experienced manufacturers is just as important. After all, the product should not only have an appealing, yet "environmentally friendly" design on paper, on the computer and in the self-built model, but should also be well-crafted and manufactured in a way that conserves resources. Instead of reinventing the wheel, the tried and tested can be transferred to the present - with an additional benefit that ideally "satisfies everyone". Whether this succeeds in the best possible way is decided by life. And thus you.
