Palatinate Dubbeglas
General Information
Blame the wine.
That is, the wine from the Palatinate in south-west Germany. People from there drink wine in just such glasses, pure or as a spritzer with mineral water – more often from the larger ones that hold a half liter and are merrily passed around from hand to hand. The name is derived from "dubbe", or nubs, which are pressed into the glass while it’s still hot and soft and which give the fingers little circular dents to hold onto as the glass makes its way to the mouth.
