    General Information

    The package contains:

Apple rose (Rosa villosa) Because of its very tasty fruit, the apple rose is also cultivated as an economically relevant fruit shrub; the juicy, very vitamin-rich flesh of the rose hips can be eaten raw. After the lush, pale pink blossom in June and July, the bright red, bristly-haired, spherical fruits ripen from August. The rose is extremely robust and undemanding, and in its natural habitat (the European mountain regions) it serves as a frost-hardy pioneer shrub. The densely branched shrub grows 2.5 m high and 2 m wide.

Cinnamon rose (Rosa majalis) The pretty cinnamon rose is native to northern and central Europe and is already listed in medieval herbal books. Its name "majalis" (maiden rose) refers to its early flowering time: the light to carmine-pink flowers open as early as the end of May; they stand together in small clusters and exude a delicate fragrance. The striking, golden-yellow stamens create a beautiful color accent. You can easily recognize this rose by its special brown to purple-red wood color; this is where the German name Zimtrose comes from. The shrub grows 1-1.5 m tall and wide; the foliage is matt green and covered with a light downy hair. After flowering, beautiful, dark red, spherical rose hips form.

Rambler rose 'Guirlande d'Amour®' (Rosa-Moschata hybrid) One of the most beautiful white-flowered rambler roses with semi-double, pure white, fragrant blooms in profuse clusters that are produced tirelessly from June to October. The rose is hardy, robust and extremely healthy and is also suitable for partial shade; an ideal beginner's rose. With a rather weak, bushy habit, it only grows to a height of around 2.5 m, making it very suitable for small gardens; for climbing rose arches, obelisks and other free-standing pyramids.

The so-called bee roses are characterized by the fact that their flowers provide pollen as food for as many insect species as possible and - more importantly - this pollen can also be easily collected. This only works if the flowers are unfilled or only half-filled and the pollen-bearing stamens in the center are freely accessible. This is not the case with double flowers. In this case, the numerous additional petals block the way to the vital pollen or, worse still, the flower is sterile and no longer carries any pollen as all the stamens have been converted into petals. Another advantage: fruits can develop from unfilled flowers, from which many other garden animals benefit. Birds in particular (almost 30 species), but also small mammals such as mice, dormice, martens and many more, for which the vitamin-rich and long-lasting rose hips are an important food source in the winter months.

We have put together a small package of three "bee roses", consisting of two shrub-like growing native wild roses and a rambler rose, which requires little space and can climb up a trellis or tree. In this way, the food supply for around 40 wild bee species and many other animals can be increased at various locations in the garden. Last but not least, humans also benefit, because in addition to the certainty that they are making an important contribution to the preservation of biodiversity, they can enjoy magnificent blossoms in the summer and fruit in the fall and winter.

We ship from the end of March to mid-May and from the beginning of October to mid-November. Please note that the respective planting season may be delayed or shorter due to weather conditions.
