Nutcracker Rumms

The name says it all: One bang and the nut is cracked! The principle is as simple as it is effective. Pull the drop weight upwards, place the nut to be cracked on the small platform and let the weight whizz back down again - this way, the nut is easily freed from its shell with a full swing. The weight is fitted with a splitting wedge so that the nut-cracking process described can be carried out cleanly: The small blade is carefully worked out of the solid block. In the same way, the pedestal, which also serves as a stand for the nutcracker, has a hollow in which a walnut, almond, hazelnut or Brazil nut can be placed. This prevents the pieces of shell from flying in all directions. To protect the table top, the underside of the base is covered with felt.

"Rumms" comes from Franconia, or at least the idea and design originated there, from Würzburg to be precise. What we haven't mentioned yet: The beautiful drop-weight nutcracker is forged from steel. The steel surfaces are oiled and thus protected against corrosion; a surface treatment that emphasizes the simple beauty of the material and soon transforms the everyday object nutcracker into an object of art. Oh, and the forge: The forge is located in Oberammergau.
