    General Information

Stylish, suitable for everyday use, environmentally friendly. Jacquard woven linen napkin

Pure linen is processed here into a slightly shiny jacquard fabric. The delicate luster is created by using the best European long fiber flax. When weaving on the Jacquard loom, undyed linen yarn is used in the warp and colored linen yarn in the weft. This creates the blue background on which the filigree paisley pattern of the napkin contrasts particularly beautifully. In the natural-colored pattern, the undyed yarn is used in the weft.
All around the napkin is provided with a handmade hemstitch and is therefore also suitable for the festive table. However, the napkin is also suitable for everyday use, because linen is stain-resistant, easy to clean, extremely durable and therefore very durable. Napkins made of cellulose it runs so playfully the rank off, because pleasantly soft to the touch (and mouth) it is also.

Passion for Lithuanian Linen. Erika Vaitkute.

The enthusiasm for textile crafts and fabrics, especially linen ones, has accompanied Erika Vaitkute ever since she can remember. Her mother introduced her to sewing at a young age and heartened her appreciation for Lithuanian linen. As you may know, Lithuania looks back on a millennia-old, deeply rooted, and lively linen tradition. Therefore, cherishing the exploration and continuation of old textile techniques is not unusual among Lithuanians. In recent years one could follow a revival of interest gaining strength throughout the Baltic States when young artists, designers and craftspeople turned to the fascinating repertoire of their textile tradition.
In the meantime, Erika Vaitkute’s path has led her (and her sewing machine) to Germany; yet, the passion for fine linen textiles and the traditional craft behind the respective manufacturing process stayed with her. So she has set up a small studio in Hamburg, where she designs textile patterns and collections with her team. However, she has the textile goods woven and made up in her manufactory in Lithuania. The manufacture of Vaitkute’s handcrafted, sophisticated pieces – from table linen to blankets to towels for the kitchen and bath – takes place according to the rules of Lithuanian linen weaving. The manufactory uses the best linen yarns from long-fibre flax, exclusively of European origin. On the one hand, the choice of the fax’s origin ensures the high quality of the linen; on the other hand, it guarantees the environmentally friendly processing of the ancient cultivated plant and fair working conditions on linen plantations.
