Sheep's wool to cover soil in pots
Weed growth is rarely a problem with potted or indoor plants and, unlike in beds, hardly needs to be contained. However, protecting the soil in the pot from water loss through evaporation with a light layer of mulch can be a good idea, both in summer when it is hot and in winter when watering is less frequent and there is a greater risk of the soil in the pot drying out. These mulch discs made of sheep's wool felt - 100% natural - are the ideal water reservoir. They are simply placed on (or in) the pots and also insulate against the cold, so can also be used to reinforce any winter protection measures. The manufacturer in the Upper Austrian Mühlviertel region processes wool from animals from the region and neighboring areas for its products. The raw wool is only gently washed with soda and soap and pressed before processing.
