General Information
What would it look like to design a magnetic bar for kitchen knives in such a way that the strong magnets disappeared behind a panel made of more aesthetically pleasing material and the bar could still fulfill its function to the best of its ability? This is exactly what we asked ourselves when we designed this magnetic bar made of walnut wood together with the wood processor Mitheis in Austria. In this design it is only available at Manufactum.
For Precious Knives.
Mitheis in Piberbach (Upper Austria) manufactures this magnetic rack for storing knives. The oiled walnut houses a collection of individual magnets. Unlike the usual magnetic strips, this arrangement generates a very stable magnetic field, which facilitates easy removal of each knife. Please note, particular knives featuring a skinny blade as well as a heavy handle may slip off. For all the other kinds of knives, it is crucial that the walnut case is far more gentle to the edge than any metal surface. With Mitheis products, the wood shows its natural grain and can also vary in colour and therefore differ from the picture.
