Men's terrycloth sweatshirt

The sweatshirt originated in the 1920s and was mainly used in American football to keep players warm during training. In the 1930s, universities and colleges adopted this practical item of clothing. In the 1970s and 1980s, the sweatshirt became a streetwear classic (as is so often the case with subcultures) and it is now impossible to imagine casual fashion without it. Armor lux produces this sweatshirt in a typical American shape, with raglan sleeves, elasticated cuffs on the neck, sleeves and torso and a stitched V-detail on the front of the round neckline. The elbows are finished with attached patches made from the outer fabric. A special feature of this sweatshirt is the terrycloth on the outside, which gives the shirt a striking look. The cotton used comes from controlled organic cultivation.

Tellingly, “armor” is the Breton word for sea, and “lux” cannot mean anything else than the magic light at Brittany’s coast. In keeping with their brand’s name, Armor lux design many of their jumpers and shirts, dresses, trousers, hats, caps and scarves in a maritime style. The company, based in Quimper and founded by a Swiss at the end of the 1930s, combines simple, comfortable cuts, classic colours and uncompromising quality of materials and craft. The main production facility is still the company’s headquarter in France while, to a small extent, branches in Madagascar and Tunisia support the production.
