The cut and material make this shoe both robust and comfortable. The upper is made from grained cowhide, which is vegetable tanned, as is the soft cowhide of the lining and insole. The strong outsole features the striking "Olimpiadi St. Moritz Roccia pattern" designed for the 1948 Olympic Games. It offers good grip on almost any surface, insulates against the cold and at the same time provides good shock absorption. A striking detail is the leaf insert on the back of the foot, which is edged with an all-round moccasin seam. The dust flap is sewn on. The insole is removable and can be replaced with your own insoles if required. The laces run through two pairs of metal eyelets attached from the inside.

The beginnings of Astorflex date back to the 19th century. After the First World War, the descendants of the shoemaking family founded the company "Fratelli Travenzoli" in Castel d'Ario, a small shoemaking town in the province of Mantua (Lombardy). From then on, the Travenzolis specialized in making shoes using the "ideal method", in which a visible seam joins the upper material to the insole, making the shoes particularly flexible, hard-wearing and durable. Today, the fate of Astorflex lies in the hands of Fabio Travenzoli, who consistently uses high-quality natural materials in production. First-class Italian leather is used for the uppers, in particular from master tanneries in Tuscany. The lining and insoles are made of soft calfskin, vegetable-tanned in a decoction of oak bark and mimosa. The outsoles are mainly made of natural rubber and only water-based adhesives are used. Astorflex has dedicated itself entirely to "good shoes", as the addition "La scarpa buona" in the shoe manufacturer's logo promises.

The outsole may leave colored marks on the shoe or floor due to abrasion.
