Virgin wool is warming and has long been the material of choice for hats. Mackie of Scotland uses it to make this bobble hat. Its sculptural knit features wide ribs and three different blocks whose colors are brought together in the bobble. The wide cuff provides a snug fit on the head and warms the forehead and ears particularly well.

Wool hats and scarves - anyone who has been making these things in Scotland's harsh climate for more than 150 years may be assumed to have a certain expertise without hesitation. Founded in 1845 in Stewarton, Mackie of Scotland initially began with the traditional headwear of the Highlands - the Balmoral and Glengarry bonnets, the Scottish berets, are still made today and worn by members of the Scottish clans all over the world. Soon, however, warming accessories in the form of hats and scarves were added. Behind every piece that leaves the factory is the expertise passed down and developed from generation to generation, which is reflected in all stages of work from the selection of suitable wool to the actual knitting.
