Mens Deck Jacket 1944

This deck jacket, based on an American model from the 1940s, has proven itself on almost all the world's oceans. To be able to withstand the weather on the unprotected decks of ships, the outer fabric of the jacket is made of tightly woven, double-sided "jungle cloth", with a warming wool lining underneath. The jacket closes with a metal zipper, over which is a buttoned, wind-resistant panel. Interior circular knit cuffs keep the wind out there, too. A drawstring with cord and metal eyelets on the inside hem allows for width adjustment. The jacket is equipped with two slit pockets on the outside and one welt pocket with vertical opening on the inside.

The Pike Brothers label from Bad Feilnbach in Upper Bavaria proves with garments inspired by textiles from the world of workwear that form and functionality are not mutually exclusive. While creative minds in other companies have to work out their cuts, the Pike Brothers collect, dissect and finally reconstruct historical originals from a wide variety of workspaces. Different material requirements and cuts are taken into account on a one-for-one basis. Fabrics are reissued in collaboration with traditional weaving mills. Finally, the Pike Brothers have the garments made by hand from selected European tailors. The resulting products tell a story by dint of their appearance. Moreover, they are proving themselves in practice, just like their historical role models did, to be highly functional and to offer the highest comfort – no matter what the activity.
