Mens boot crepe sole

This ankle-high lace-up shoe comes with a smooth vamp and two pairs of eyelets. The shoe is the result of a design collaboration with the German musician, Max Herre. The shoe resembling a chukka boot is made from smooth leather which is vegetable tanned and oiled in Portugal. As a natural product, the rubber of the light crêpe sole adapts well to the ambient temperature: in winter, the sole firms up, and in summer, it becomes softer. The unlined shoe features a contrast seam and a practical heel strap. Comes with an extra pair of laces.

In an ancient Ottoman language, ekn [i’kin] means seed or seedling. For a seedling to thrive, it needs fertile soil. Working this soil in a sustainable way is the concern of Noel Klein-Reesink, founder of the shoe label ekn footwear. The Frankfurt-based company offers an ethical alternative to conventional footwear and hand-produces a small collection of sneakers, running shoes, boots and belts of outstanding quality, texture and workmanship. All shoes are made in Portugal, where experienced Portuguese tanners use only ecological materials. The leather is sourced in Portugal (and Germany for belts) and tanned without the use of chromium. The canvas elements are made of certified organic materials and soles of latex-based natural rubber and raw rubber or recycled materials. ekn footwear uses nickel-free materials for belt clasps and eyelets.
