Men's boat shoe

Since the American sailor Paul A. Sperry went overboard on his yacht in the mid-1930s and subsequently developed the boat shoe with a non-slip rubber sole, this item of clothing has become increasingly popular. And what was once purely a sports shoe made of sailcloth has long since become popular in leather versions too. No wonder, because the main advantages of the boat shoe are not only welcome on board but also on land. Firstly, there is the aforementioned rubber outsole. Although it is only slightly profiled (otherwise stones could get stuck in it and scratch the boat deck), it still offers good grip on many different surfaces. Then there are the distinctive laces that were added later and run around the heel through the edge of the shaft. They ensure that the lacing can be individually adjusted to the shape of the foot, making the shoe fit well and comfortably. Today, boat shoes are often combined with casual leisurewear - especially by people who appreciate a relaxed maritime lifestyle. Astorflex manufactures this model with a padded insole. Thanks to this, the shoe is comfortable to wear for many hours and, as it is removable, it can also be replaced with your own insoles if required. And of course it is also suitable for boots.

The beginnings of Astorflex date back to the 19th century. After the First World War, the descendants of the shoemaking family founded the company "Fratelli Travenzoli" in Castel d'Ario, a small shoemaking town in the province of Mantua (Lombardy). From then on, they specialized in the production of shoes using the "ideal method", in which a visible seam joins the upper to the insole, making the shoes particularly flexible, durable and long-lasting. Today, the fortunes of Astorflex are in the hands of Fabio Travenzoli, who has consistently focused the entire production on sustainability. This is evidenced not least by the use of ecological materials. First-class Italian leather is used for the upper shoe, especially from master tanneries in Tuscany. The lining and insoles are made of soft calf leather, vegetable-tanned in a decoction of oak bark and mimosa. The outsoles are made primarily of natural rubber, and only water-based adhesives are used. At Astorflex, one has just completely dedicated to the "good shoe", as already promised by the addition "La scarpa buona" in the logo of the shoe manufactory.
