    General Information

    The Blucher.

With its typical top lacing, this is a classic casual shoe, with a straightforward, business like and at the same time sporty design. Accordingly it has a weatherproof profile rubber sole. The shoe gets its name from the Prussian General Blücher, who had boots of this type made for his soldiers. Over time the boots became what is now known as the Gentleman’s low shoe.

Chaussures Heschung. Double-stitched Shoes from France.

Eugène Heschung set up his first workshops in Alsace in 1934 and specialized from the very beginning in hiking and hunting shoes. His motto: a good walking shoe should be comfortable, weather-resistant and indestructible. The double stitching is done by machine on the traditional model of hand-welt stitching – in this way the welt is pressed outwards before the sole is put on, to give the shoe its characteristic appearance. The double-stiched Blucher shares its first class design with other models from Heschung: the lining is out of mixed tanned calfskin; the lace-up loops are of stainless steel and are hidden from the left side; the dust tongue is lightly padded; inverted pleats out of fine soft leather on the dust tongue make it impermeable; the inner sole is also made from tanned calf or cowhide; the joint spring is out of ash or beech tree; the filling out of pure latex; the profile sole, out of abrasion resistant rubber, is sewn through, a rarity these days.

First-Class Shoes from France. Chaussures Heschung.

Founded in 1934 in Alsace by Eugène Heschung, the workshops have specialised in shoes for hiking and hunting from the very beginning. Comfort, weather resistance and durability characterise all Heschung shoes. The high-quality handicraft of the genuine double stitching is common to all models. The welt – folded over to the outside before the shoemaker joints it to the outsole – remains visible on the protruding sole and defines the shoe’s look. Heschung chooses mixed tanned (chrome- and vegetable-tanned) calf leather for lining.
