Men belt horse leather narrower shape

Leather goods made of horse leather are such a rare luxury because only certain very small parts of the hide (the oval shells on the horses’ croup) of a very special race of cold-blooded horses can be used for really excellent leather products. Because of the small size of these oval shaped "shells", this belt is made from several pieces. Purse-maker Kreis orders the pit tanned Shell Cordovan for the top layer of our belt from the Horween tannery in Chicago, who have specialized in horse leather. The leather is of an unusual durability, the fiber structure being especially dense and strong. The color is applied by hand. The lining is pit tanned cowhide from the tannery Rendenbach. Both leathers are carefully sewn with raw edges; the silk matte finish of the surface is reached by using mechanical "glazing".

Founded in 1963 in Offenbach by Erich Kreis, the Hessian leather manufacturer Kreis became specialised in belts early on. The firm is run today by Bernd Kreis, the son of the founder. He uses only full-grained leather: classic box calf and traditionally pit-tanned cow leather from Germany, saddle leather from England and the legendary Shell Cordovan horse leather from the Horween^® tannery in Chicago. Kreis is one of the very few manufacturers of hand-made leather belts which still cultivates the time-consuming art of triple layer belt construction.

horse leather contains a lot of wax due to the production process. Additional greasing (for instance with shoe polish) will make the leather dull. Simply polish the belt with a woolen cloth.

The belt length is the length from the inside edge of the belt buckle to the centre belt hole. This length should correspond to the waist size of the trousers.
