Leather bicycle grips

Unlike saddles and pedals, we usually have direct skin contact with bicycle grips. The design requirements are therefore even more complex, as it is not just ergonomics that play a role, but also the material. It should be pleasant to the touch, resistant to rain and sweat and last for several years. And of course, some people also attach importance to the look. Plastics are often chosen for such requirements. In this case, however, leather has the edge. That's why the Austrian manufacturer Manoli has specialized in the production of bicycle grips made from saddle leather, because here too, good things can be made even better.

Only strong, vegetable-tanned cowhide leather is used, which is free from toxins - particularly important due to skin contact, as sweat can dissolve substances from the leather and be absorbed through the skin. The strong saddle leather is durable, resistant to moisture and pleasant to the touch. The surface is only lightly greased for protection and offers good grip. Precisely laser-cut perforations provide ventilation and prevent moisture build-up under the hands. At the same time, they improve the absorption of grease from the hands: Leather care while riding.

The highlight of the leather processing is the saddler's seam: made by hand with strong, braided saddler's thread, it is solid and resilient. The second special feature is that a narrow groove is milled into the leather at this point so that the seam is fully integrated into the leather and does not look bulky. And - not a matter of course - the end of the handle is also made of leather and has no stitching at all. This is a tactile advantage and also contributes to the harmonious look.

The bicycle grips fit all handlebar tubes with a diameter of 22 millimetres, so they are also suitable for electric scooters. They are also easy to fit. Please note that the leather will darken slightly over time and acquire the typical beautiful patina.
