Lantern Thuringian forest glass

Wind light or vase - vase or wind light? In our eyes, this model made of Thuringian forest glass fully plays out its appeal in both functions. As a vase it rounds off the appearance of your flower arrangement, as a lantern the gently wavy glass spreads the candlelight as a green shimmering play of light. Whether you illuminate the lantern with a tea light or a small pillar candle is, of course, up to your preference (and your candle supply). We advise only to use a wax plate to secure the light or to fill the bottom with a little sand, gravel or the like, so that candle or tea light find solid footing on it.

In the Farbglashütte Lauscha in the south of the Thuringian Forest, the original type of the famous Thuringian Forest Glass is blown and cast. The glass owes its characteristic green shimmer to the high proportion of iron oxides in the sands of the Thuringian Forest. This sand, potash and lime are used to melt the raw material for this highly prized glass specialty. Typical for the Thuringian Forest glass are also the so-called Gispen, air bubbles enclosed in the glass, which characterize the original manufacturing process before the smelting furnace, which has been handed down for centuries.

This product is an example of genuine handicraft; therefore, minor deviations in size and colour may occur.
