There it is missing in almost every household, because thanks to the process of catalytic combustion, it is superior to usual air fresheners. In a burner made of ceramic, the combustion liquid is burned, and without a flame, because the energy required for combustion is reduced by a metallic catalyst. In the final analysis, these facts mean nothing more than hot air: in the edge of the catalyst, heated to about 450 °C, bacteria, germs and odor molecules are to be broken down and catalytically oxidized, i.e. executed, and not, as is otherwise the case, covered up by fragrant substances. In the cooler, approx. 200 °C hot burner core, an additional fine distribution of the scent molecules takes place, provided that one of the scented burning liquids is used.

The set brings everything that is needed for the initial operation of the Lampe Berger. It consists of a clear glass bottle, the catalytic burner including wick and two bottles of burning fluid: one with fragrance and one fragrance-neutral, which has only a cleansing effect.

The Parisian pharmacist Maurice Berger developed a lamp that purified the air in a room with its catalytic burner - without a flame. His invention, which he patented in 1898, soon experienced enormous demand and has survived all fluctuations in the spirit of the times to this day.
Its mode of operation is as ingenious as it is simple: a neutral or fragrant burning liquid is filled into the glass body. Then the burner is ignited and after about two minutes the flame is extinguished again. This "pre-burning" is necessary because the actual catalytic combustion only begins at a certain temperature. In the process, the Lampe Berger neutralizes unpleasant odors, ensures fresher room air and scents it if desired. Putting on the enclosed cap stops the catalytic combustion.

The burners for Lampe Berger can be used for one to two years, depending on the operating time. At the latest after about 200 ignitions, the burner unit should be completely replaced to ensure safe and proper operation of the Lampe Berger guaranteed. Regular cleaning of the burner increases its service life. For this purpose, it is best to use the neutral burning fluid and simply let the flame burn a little longer until the burner has regained its original light gray color. It is also recommended to clean the burner with the neutral burning fluid between using two different fragrances. You can also use this to control the intensity of each fragrance you use by diluting it with the neutral burning fluid. If you are not going to use your Lampe Berger burner for several weeks, we recommend that you remove it from the lamp.
