The craft of handweaving has a long tradition in India, but is being lost more and more - not least as a result of globalization. With hand-woven products like this light and warming pure wool shawl, Moismont is helping to preserve this craft. The base of the shawl features a vibrant floral motif, and the weave a fine herringbone pattern. The cloth finishes with a narrow fringed edge at both ends.

Behind the label Moismont, based in Picardy, France, are Martine and Jacques de Moismont. With their fashion, the two stand up for authenticity, traditions and values. It is therefore not surprising that in their scarves and stoles, blankets and bags France and India come together: The designs come from Parisian textile designer Adrien Testard, while they are made in a very traditional way in India. After all, the original shawl (which we understand to be worn more like a stole) once found its way from the Indian subcontinent to Europe. And to this day, this shawl culture is very much alive in India: Yarn dyeing, weaving and printing techniques are passed down there from generation to generation - in three carefully distinguished trades, each of which possesses and guards its own unique know-how.
