Ladies stole wool cotton striped, nature

A full two meters long and 77 centimeters wide, this stole is woven from skin-friendly cotton (in the warp) and warming wool (in the weft). It is worked with striking two-tone block stripes and long fringes at the ends, as well as narrow fringed edges at the sides. Due to its large size, the stole also performs well as a summer blanket for cool evenings. The design is inspired by the traditional blankets used by Portuguese shepherds from the Serra da Estrela region to protect themselves from the cold in the mountains.

SchoolofLifeProjects was founded in 2019 by Dutch fashion experts Lilian Vos and Harry Wonder after they discovered a centuries-old weaving mill while traveling through Portugal in Manteigas, a small town in the Serra da Estrela valley. Wanting to preserve this traditional craft for future generations, they began a collaboration and their vision under the motto "Love.Live Fair" became a reality. Since then, they have had their designs made on 150-year-old looms, each with its own distinctive weaving effect. For SchoolofLifeProjekt, the work is a creative search for the best possible combination of sustainable materials, craftsmanship and modern design. The wool used in the stoles, blankets and ponchos comes from the Bordaleira sheep that graze in the highlands of Serra da Estrela.
