    General Information

Ease of work thanks to weight savings.

It is an old tradition that garden spades with a narrow and thus slightly lighter blade are subsumed under the term "lady spade". Even if this category, viewed from today, seems a bit out of time - among the advantages of such tools classified in the group of small and light indisputably includes their lower dead weight. If we add to this the reduced "operating weight" that results from the reduced capacity of the blade - after all, a smaller amount of earth can be moved with it - the main result is that with this spade you can dig in your garden to your heart's content without tiring. And if you're looking for a planting spade that will allow you to work undisturbed in existing beds with closely spaced plantings, this forged spade is the tool of choice. Its blade edge is sharpened and the specially incorporated steps make it easier, if necessary, to help with the foot if the soil is ever very hard or crusted.

    Garden tools with character

The Krumpholz family knows a thing or two about forging. Based in the Franconian Forest, their ancestors acquired their first own hammer mill - the Guttenberger Hammer - in 1799 and were already producing tools and other everyday objects from forged iron back then. Today, the company's fortunes are in the hands of the eighth generation. The garden tools that leave the production site, which is still in its old location but has long since been modernized and expanded, are tools of the highest quality: shaped to their intended use under the weight of the forging hammer, compacted and reinforced where necessary, fitted with sharpened edges or blades and equipped with high-quality ash wood handles. Free-form forging, as practiced at Krumpholz, requires special skill and a sense of proportion. The steel used, a Swedish steel with a chrome-molybdenum content, is tough, strong and easy to clean.
