Ladies leather clutch braided

Whether stylish appearance in the evening for the formal occasion or on less formal occasions - with this clutch you are always in the best company when only the most important things should be carried. En vogue came such small underarm bag without strap already in the 1920s, probably as an elegant replacement for the simple (men's) wallet, because now the ladies were also more often (alone) on the road. As a clutch - English for "clasp" - however, one calls the handy bag only since a few years.

This clutch from Allan K is woven from supple soft, grippy buffalo leather. The purely artisanal production is complex, and it takes some time until the narrow, slightly nuanced color leather straps are braided into a kind of fabric from which a bag can be made. Due to the color nuances, an interesting color effect is created, which is particularly evident in the braunen bag. The flat handbag is lined inside with matching color cotton twill and is not further divided. On one side, a small leather-lined zipper pocket is incorporated. On the other side, four leather slip pockets keep cards and credit card-sized IDs handy. The clutch is closed by zipper.

Belgian label Allan K is considered a specialist in bags and shoes made of hand-braided leather. Founder Alain Kadic sums up the passion for his company and the products in one sentence: "Braided leather is in my DNA." No wonder, since the company's genesis dates back to the 1960s, when his father Ivan Kadic, an engineer with an inventive spirit, developed a spiral cutter capable of cutting a narrow strip hundreds of feet long from a leather hide. Many of his inventions, including an automatic leather weaving machine, soon find their way around the world.

In the 1980s, Alain Kadic, now an engineer himself, followed in his father's footsteps and traced the machines to India. Here, the craft of leather weaving has a long tradition. After working with various leather weaving companies for several years, he finally founded the Allan K brand in 2012 and from then on had his designs manufactured in Madras. The timeless-classic shoes and bags made of woven and braided leather are handmade there, which can take up to five days depending on the model. The leather for them is still cut on the machines that his father developed at the time.
