In the Ruhr region, it is called a pit towel and was once a staple in every miner's kitchen. Thanks to its extremely durable and robust fabric, it can now also be found in many households in other regions and countries. It can be found even more often in professional catering establishments - which shows just how hard-wearing this tea towel and hand towel is. This pit towel is woven from a sturdy half-twill linen in a staggered twill weave, with a typical muted blue-light blue check and a red border. The linen comes from Europe.
