General Information
Where space is a scarce commodity, this small but mighty oak shelf comes in handy. Whether in the kitchen or pantry, near the stove or where your supplies are: On three tiers you can accommodate durable food as well as fresh, because the boxes of larch wood are, after all, practically open on all sides, so that their contents are well ventilated. On the top, a loose shelf made of maple wood is embedded in the rack, which can also be used as a cutting board. We have developed this shelf in cooperation with a carpenter's workshop in northern Germany. You get it only from us.
Small harvest or weekend shopping. Storing fruit and vegetables in the kitchen
The frame of this small storage unit is made of untreated oak wood, sturdy and mitred on all sides with oak dowels in the carpenter's style. The simple storage boxes each rest on two oak round bars and are made of larch wood slats - also untreated - as was traditionally the case. Larch wood is particularly resistant and the design guarantees good ventilation of the crate contents. Onions and garlic, a 2.5 kg bag of potatoes or a week's ration of fruit always stay fresh. At the top, a loose shelf is set into the frame, which is made of natural maple and can therefore also be used as an easy-care cutting board. The hard maple wood has a very fine-pored structure so that grease, oil and liquids can hardly penetrate the surface and is therefore easy to clean. It is sufficient to wipe both sides of the tray with a damp dishcloth after each use as a kitchen board.
Note:
Due to the high tannic acid content of oak wood, blue-black discoloration can occur on the wood surface in combination with moisture and in contact with ferrous metals. In addition, the so-called tannins can be washed out by rainwater and stain surfaces and adjacent materials.
