Kitchen cutlery wood

We call it "kitchen cutlery" - in the narrow version individually good to use as a spatula or cooking spoon; if you order two pieces at once, for example, also as salad servers. And quite apart from their usefulness, the pieces are simply beautiful. They are manufactured in a workshop for people with disabilities in North Hesse. First, quite conventional woodworking machines are used, with the help of which blanks are made from two different types of wood - maple and cherry. Then comes what makes the surfaces so pleasant to the touch: In three operations, the blanks are sanded, watered and sanded again - a job done by hand.

For the care of the smooth wood surfaces, the occasional sparing application of some drying (linseed) or semi-drying (walnut or poppy) cooking oil is recommended, although the naturally very light to light gray maple wood of this will take on a slightly yellowish hue over time. The reddish braune hue of the cherry wood is further intensified by the oil treatment - one says: "fired up".
