Kids backpack cowhide

A beautiful back can delight us - a healthy back even more so, because it is the most beautiful. As long as our children are exploring and conquering the world, please do so with a backpack that allows them to maintain a healthy posture.

This backpack fulfills the basic ergonomic requirement: it sits high and close to the back thanks to individually adjustable shoulder straps, so that the child can maintain a straight posture and is not forced into a hollow back. The usefulness of a bag carried on the back was already known to those soldiers who traveled long distances on foot with their so-called Tornister on their backs - yes, the shape of the bag originates from the military, but fortunately it has now been put to completely peaceful use. With a wink, the knapsack was also called a "monkey", probably because it clings so closely to the wearer's back. The padding on the back and shoulder straps ensures that this rucksack neither pinches nor chafes. Its low weight also contributes to carrying comfort: At just under 1.2 kg, the children's backpack is even lighter than some standard polyester satchels. Its capacity is nevertheless considerable: the undivided main compartment patiently holds a friend's book, a lunch box for the hike, a collection of games and other essential items up to A4 format, the attached slip pocket keeps a wallet and front door keys within easy reach, for example, and two pen compartments keep favorite writing utensils safe and secure. A tip for healthy carrying: your child should stow heavy items such as the soccer encyclopaedia close to the back and light items such as the dangling doll further out, away from the back.

Despite its relatively low weight, the children's backpack looks extremely strong and solid in leather. The individual cuts of the 2-2.4 mm thick cowhide leather are open-edged and carefully quilted using saddle stitching. This type of processing not only increases the stability and durability of the bag, but also allows it to be repaired if necessary. Some seams may wear through after years of use, but the strong leather will last far beyond childhood and adolescence. Tanned using pure vegetable tanning methods, the cowhide is not further processed, i.e. neither dyed nor waxed, so that its natural grain remains visible. Over time, it will also develop the beautiful patina typical of leather, which tells the story of an eventful childhood full of adventure.

Founded as a manufactory for saddlery and equestrian articles, the Ludwigsburg family business Leder-Wolf has steadily expanded its repertoire since 1892 and now produces leather goods of all kinds. Central components since the 1960s and 1970s are briefcases and presentation folders, which are mostly manufactured according to individual customer wishes, as well as bags and small leather goods made of natural leather - at that time Leder-Wolf was among the first to produce such natural leather goods in Germany. The company has remained true to its production location in southern Germany to this day: Because that is just as much a part of the company philosophy as the attachment to the craft tradition of the "fine saddler". From generation to generation, the knowledge of this is passed on and the leather is processed to this day in the best saddler manner.

Also in the material one remains true to proven. For this backpack, vegetable-tanned cowhide is used, which means that only natural raw materials are used in the tanning process. This makes the leather particularly skin-friendly and at the same time resistant to external influences. Moisture or temperature fluctuations can do as little harm to it as the swinging, energetic handling in the sometimes rough everyday life. Nevertheless, it will develop with time and use an individual patina, as is typical for good leather.
