Kaweco Special mechanical pencil aluminum

Kaweco in Heidelberg produced this mechanical pencil from 1910 on. And the following decades saw endless variations of the pencil, among them the “Rationell” and “Special” model series – so it can hardly be called new. It is a mature product, reborn. However, the reborn Kaweco Special mechanical pencil compares favourably with its predecessor in several ways. Instead of celluloid or ebonite, durable aluminium, anodized in black, serves as material for the barrel. Plus the former twisting mechanism has given way to a more contemporary and stable ratched-based mechanism and a lead reservoir. We offer four versions of the mechanical pencil differing in the thickness of the leads enclosed to suit the different requirements of the various purposes one can think of when drawing or writing with a mechanical pencil.

Drop action pencils, propelling pencils and rectable pencils have two things in store the wooden pencil cannot provide:

1.) They are available in a variety of mine formats, which in turn are catering to a variety of purposes - from technical drawing to large-format sketching and signing, and 2.) they are sustainable because they are refillable.
