Insulated mug

A coffee on the go from your favorite café or an ice-cold drink on the go - that's practical, especially if the cup to go is also insulated and keeps its contents hot or cold for a long time. The Klean Kanteen® insulated mug not only keeps your coffee hot for up to 17 hours. It also keeps cold drinks at the right temperature for hours. The leak-proof lid made of BPA-free silicone with a wide thread on the inside is particularly practical. It can be opened quickly by simply turning it (this is particularly easy with the folded up handle) and also closed tightly again - so it can also be stored in a rucksack or bag. To ensure that the lid closes leak-proof, turn the wheel on the inside to the right until it no longer clicks (please hold it on the opposite side). To clean, turn the wheel to the left again; the parts can be taken apart for cleaning. When reassembling, turn to the right again until it no longer clicks.

In 2015, an average of 320,000 disposable cups were filled - and thrown away - every hour across Germany. That's a total of 2.8 billion coffee-to-go cups per year. If the cups for cold drinks are included, the figure even exceeds 6 billion. One person in Germany uses 60 to 80 coffee-to-go cups a year - which is unlikely to change much, even with the ban on single-use plastics that comes into force in 2021. However, it is often possible to simply hand your own cup over the counter, which - contrary to what many café operators believe - is actually permitted. However, providers are not obliged to do so. They bear the liability risk if the cups they bring in are contaminated and cause health problems. For most people, this is the reason for refusing to fill their own cups, even if no such case is known to date. Try it anyway, because fortunately there are more and more cafés that even offer a discount if you bring your own cup.

The Californian family business Klean Kanteen® offers clean alternatives to disposable cups and bottles with its stainless steel containers. What began with a drinking bottle has developed over ten years into a broad repertoire of containers for transporting food, made without aluminum and bisphenol-A (BPA), but from tasteless and odorless stainless steel. Even simple measures such as the use of green electricity, video conferencing instead of business trips and reusable solutions in the canteen can help. The first visible step for customers is to do without packaging.

Klean Kanteen® only uses 18/8 stainless steel, and this in a thicker thickness, which makes Klean Kanteen® products significantly more robust than many other stainless steel containers. They can therefore withstand a lot, but are still light enough for use on the go. The threads are also largely made of stainless steel. This contributes to the longevity of the containers. The bottle caps are fitted with silicone seals, which are also used in medical technology.

To ensure that the containers can be used for a long time, they must also be easy to clean. Klean Kanteen® therefore manufactures them with rounded "corners" and smooth, wide threads. On the inside, the surface is electropolished and so smooth that dirt cannot stick easily. And if something does dry on the inside, the wide openings make it easy to reach. Another practical feature is that the stainless steel containers can be cleaned in the dishwasher.
