Horse carousel
General Information
Funfair delights for collectors
Hold on tight, because four young riders start trotting, whizzing around and taking off like in a classic chain carousel - tinplate is already convincing with its solidity, but here it shows additional momentum. A robust lever-spring mechanism made of tool steel ensures the fluidity of movement - a clever design that makes the key obsolete (especially since keys are more famous for their untraceability than for their functionality, especially among collectibles). The lever is integrated into the base of the carousel: The further you move it to the side, the more you wind up the spring mechanism and the faster and longer the carousel turns. Colorful and harmonious, the historicizing lithographs of the base, steed and riders are combined with roof motifs from more recent times - creating a colorful whirlwind when in motion and an attractive eye-catcher in the collector's showcase when at rest.
Rich in detail and carefully crafted. Tin toys from Europe
We do not want to tire of emphasizing how vanishingly small and soon probably completely disappeared the share of mechanical tin toys from European production is. Since the relocation of almost all tin toy production to the Far East, the remaining manufacturers in this country (as in the rest of Europe) are often left to fend for themselves. Some classics that were produced for decades have practically disappeared. The Düsseldorf-based Blechfabrik, for example, maintains production facilities not only near Nuremberg, but also in New Delhi and Shanghai, where it manufactures historical tin toys true to its motto of "preserving the historical gem". In order to fulfill this intention, the models are mainly handmade, if possible with the help of historical models and original stamping tools. What die Blechfabrik does not produce itself, it tries to preserve with the help of equally committed partners - as in the case of this collector's item, which, including the spring movement, is manufactured by the small Wagner factory in Franconia, which was founded in 1969.
