    General Information

Flexible: cachepot and planter in one

Its clean-cut appearance makes it ideal as a planter, giving your houseplants an attractive appearance. A closer look also reveals its second function as a durable planter. The once-fired, otherwise natural terracotta allows the roots of your houseplants to breathe and enables them to grow healthily, while the slightly rough structure of the material also encourages the roots to grow. A drainage hole in the base prevents waterlogging if you are too careful with the watering, and the matching saucer catches excess water (you should not water too much, of course, not only because of the limited volume of each saucer).

    Straightforward and functional

Even at first glance, the Hoff collection from Bergs Potter impresses with its uncluttered design and straightforward, clear silhouette. In these designs, designer Anne Hoff is guided by the modern formal language of Scandinavian design, which always keeps the functionality of a design in mind. The harmoniously coordinated colors of the planters and coasters allow them to be combined with one another, creating a constantly changing visual effect. And if you don't need the Hoff planters, they can be safely stacked and stowed away to save space.

Plant pots for generations. Bergs Potter in Copenhagen

When Victor Berg inherited his ceramics business in Copenhagen in 1942, he was particularly keen to make the everyday lives of his fellow citizens a little more colorful in gray times. In the words of the Danish poet Hans Christian Andersen: "Life alone is not enough, said the butterfly. Sunshine, freedom and a little flower must be had." So Berg always kept a bouquet of vases and pots in his store and added cut flowers to the assortment at the same time. Copenhageners liked that - over the years, several stores in the were added, and eventually also planters and cachepots of his own design. For when Victor Berg's children joined the family business in the 1980s, they began to have their own ideas - initially inspired by historical models they found all over Europe - molded in terracotta. To this end, Bergs Potter still works with traditional potteries in Tuscany, in Lucca to be precise, and now also in Portugal; a tradition that is now being continued with great dedication by the third Berg generation. The preferred material is the famous southern Tuscan Galestro clay, which is rich in minerals and is considered particularly frost-resistant. Once fired, even the unglazed terracotta can show shades between red and pink, gray and white - an appealing natural patina that only this clay possesses. For the health of your potted plants also advantageous: in the clay contained carbonate and potassium salts grant a good permeability, which can positively influence in particular the development of the root system.
